Workshops

Schools can book UCR ARTS’ in-depth, multi-session workshops and artist masterclasses for groups of up to 35 students in 7th-12th grade. We offer workshops in film-making, photography, music composition, art-making workshops around social justice topics, and more. To inquire about workshops, please email lindsey.hammel@ucr.edu.

2022-2023 Offerings:

Storytelling Through Photography Workshop

Based on the exhibition, Christina Fernandez: Multiple Exposures
Booking: October 1, 2022 – February 5, 2023

In this workshop, students will be inspired by the narrative photography of Los Angeles-based artist, Christina Fernandez, and will learn how to tell a story through photography. Students will strengthen their critical thinking and visual literacy skills, consider the many artistic decisions that photographers make when creating an image, and will create and present their own photographs that communicate their vision and tell their stories. This workshop is based on California content standards for Visual Arts, Media Arts, and Career and Technical Education.

Off the Block Documentary Film Workshop

The award-winning summer documentary workshop that has been running for 13 years is now offered as an in-school workshop that can be customized for your class needs. Directly based on California CTE Standards and drawn from college-level curriculum, the outcome of this workshop is students gaining an understanding of documentary film production as well as knowledge of how careers and educational opportunities in related disciplines are achieved.

Book a Field Trip

Docent-led tours for Fall 2022 are of the exhibition Christina Fernandez: Multiple Exposures and can be scheduled from October 1-February 5.

For school groups of 7th-12th grade students, we are offering a Tour of  Christina Fernandez: Multiple Exposures + Storytelling Through Photography Workshop package. More information can be found here.

Please note: Maximum capacity for school tour groups is 36. School groups must have a minimum of one chaperone for every 10 students. Dates, staffing, and space is subject to availability. Your tour is not scheduled until you receive an official tour confirmation email.

Please follow the steps below to schedule your group visit.

  2. Museum staff will follow up with any questions and will send an official tour confirmation when your tour is booked.
  3. Review Tips for Visiting with your group prior to your trip to UCR ARTS.

Tour Fee Schedule:

  • Guided tour: $75 for up to 30 students
  • Self-guided museum visit for groups during regular Museum hours: free Museum hours: 12-5pm on Thursday-Friday, and 11am-5pm on Saturday-Sunday.
