Event Info

Ladies First is a hip hop piece celebrating and honoring the ladies of hip hop through the generations. Through a series of key artists and dances, this performance will take you on a journey of growing up in Hip Hop culture. Directed and Choreographed by Brandon J Aiken.

The performance will be followed by a Q&A from the audience to learn about dance, choreography, contemporary dance, hip hop dance, and the opportunity to pursue dance as a career. Performers will lead interactive activities for audience members who want to participate and learn through dance and movement games. This performance and interactive activity is family friendly.

This performance is held in conjunction with Whatever Happened to Dyno-Woman? An Alternative History of An Afrofuturist Icon on view at the Culver Center of the Arts.

This performance is supported by the Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts at UC Riverside. The Gluck Fellows Program is made possible by the generosity of the Max H. Gluck Foundation. Programs at UCR ARTS are supported by the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at UC Riverside and the City of Riverside.
