The artist writes: “In my first experiments with AI, I probed the dataset, prompting with just my name and work to see if something similar would be produced. It wasn’t. What I got back instead were odd Asian figures in static poses, devoid of context. Data bias?

“Intrigued, I continued to probe. I also began interrupting the AI mid-thought, as it tended towards overcooked and somewhat grotesque results. Better.”

“The resulting series of indistinct yet distinctly Asian figures resonated with me as an echo of the Asian experience of being invisible in Western society. These eight images are selected from that larger work, Almost Invisible.”
