Off the Block 2026 Application

Applications for the Summer 2026 workshop are now open! Please note that while the program seeks to enroll as many students as possible, space is limited. An application does not guarantee a spot in the program. Program staff will contact applicants regarding their status on or around May 20th. Please review the information below before applying.

For any questions, please reach out to Nikolay Maslov, Curator of Film & Media Projects at UCR ARTS: nikolay.maslov@ucr.edu

Application Eligibility & Returning Students

Off the Block is free of charge and no prior filmmaking experience is required. Riverside-area high school students who were enrolled in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade as of Spring 2026 are eligible for the program.

While we welcome returning students, priority will be given to first-time applicants to ensure more students have the opportunity to participate in Off the Block. The applications of students who are returning for a second year will be considered next, followed by those who have participated multiple times.

Students are encouraged to include a letter of recommendation from a teacher in their application. The letter can be uploaded to the application directly or emailed to nikolay.maslov@ucr.edu
