Echo
Patricia Filio (b. 2005)
Echo is meant to be a lullaby for the lonely trees in the photo. Highlighting the void of color, I
created an ambient-like sound using strings to symbolize the sadness, from my perspective, that I
took from the image. The element of nature led me to imagine a world before the photo, where
the trees were full of life, color, and the environment surrounding them was a vast forest of
emerald green. The lyrics act as a comfort to the lone, stripped-down trees, reminding them that
what once was can be again through an echo from the past. I imagine these trees on their last
branch of life, and the resolution of Echo is meant to symbolize the trees finding their peace
and reliving the days they were full of life.
