Imagined Soundtracks is a collection of electronic music pieces composed by UCR undergraduate and graduate composers. Each work is inspired by an image or group of images taken from the Lost in the Wilderness: Ansel Adams in the 1960s and Shadow Archive: Meggan Gould exhibits at the California Museum of Photography. While each student’s approach varies, there is a common theme of unearthing an implied narrative from each photo. Using a mixture of musique concrète, collage, and contemporary electronic synthesis techniques, each work attempts to sonically embody the images while leaving space for the listener to construct their own viewpoint.
Music pieces will be accessible in the 2nd and 3rd floor California Museum of Photography galleries via QR code and online.
Imagined Soundtracks is organized by Ian Dicke, Professor in the Music Department at UC Riverside, and UCR ARTS.
